Mississippi Emergency Management Agency Conducts Tornado Safety Drill
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) conducted a tornado safety drill at the State Emergency Operations Center. During the exercise, staff moved to the lowest floor and sheltered in an interior hallway, simulating responses to severe weather.
MEMA encourages all residents to practice their tornado safety plans. Officials advise identifying a safe place, knowing where to go, and ensuring all household members understand what to do during a tornado warning.
Experts say that preparedness should not be delayed until severe weather is imminent. Practicing safety procedures regularly can help save lives during actual emergencies, officials added.
