Mississippi EMA Participates in National Earthquake Drill

Mississippi Emergency Management Agency staff participated in the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill Tuesday to practice safety procedures during a quake, according to a social media post from MEMA.

The agency shared photos of its team practicing drop, cover, and hold on, a standard safety technique recommended during earthquakes. The post emphasized the importance of preparedness and encouraged residents to discuss safety plans with their families.

In the drill, participants were advised to drop to their hands and knees, take cover under a sturdy desk or table, and hold on until the shaking stops. MEMA urged residents to take a few minutes to review safety steps and ensure everyone knows what to do in the event of an earthquake.
