Mississippi Hills Heritage and Folklife Festival Set for October 24 in New Albany

The Mississippi Hills Heritage and Folklife Festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in New Albany, Mississippi. The event offers visitors a chance to explore the region’s cultural heritage and folklife traditions.

One of the highlights will be a blacksmithing demonstration by Dr. Michael Megelsh, providing attendees with a firsthand look at traditional craftsmanship. The festival aims to showcase Mississippi’s rich cultural history and folk arts.

Organizers encourage the community to attend and discover more about Mississippi’s heritage. The event is supported by local and state organizations, including the Mississippi Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the New Albany Main Street Association.

Additional sponsors include WTVA 9 News, MPB (Mississippi Public Broadcasting), and WNAU, New Albany’s local radio station. The festival is also promoted by the Union County Development Authority, the Daily Journal, and the Union County Extension Office.
