Teachers at New Albany High School teamed up with the National Literacy Institute to explore practical methods to improve student literacy. The event, dubbed a “literacy hat” session, emphasized helping students understand, remember, and apply their learning.
The National Literacy Institute, founded in 2003 by former educator Dr. Ingrid Haynes, has supported more than 100,000 teachers nationwide. The organization provides strategies to help students become stronger readers and learners.
Throughout the year, the NLI will collaborate with secondary educators at the school to implement these strategies and improve student outcomes, according to school officials.
