Union County Schools to remain closed Monday and Tuesday due to winter storm
Union County Schools will be closed Monday and Tuesday as the area continues to recover from recent winter weather. The district announced the closures due to hazardous road conditions and ongoing power outages.
Many roads remain icy, and power lines are still down in several areas. Approximately 2,500 residents in Union County are without power, including numerous school district employees, according to district officials.
The district plans to resume normal operations on Wednesday, February 4, if weather and road conditions improve. Transportation services will run on a regular schedule starting that day.
District officials expressed concern for the safety of students, staff, and families. They acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the closures but emphasized safety remains their top priority. They also extended their thoughts and prayers to those affected by the winter storm and its aftermath.
Residents are advised to continue exercising caution and to stay updated on local conditions as recovery efforts continue.
