Union County Animal Shelter Names New Board Member

Union County Animal Shelter and Rescue announced the appointment of Anna Frances Ballard as a new board member. Ballard, a lifelong resident of New Albany, has spent years rescuing, fostering, and caring for animals, including dogs, cats, horses, and reptiles.

Based in New Albany, Ballard said her passion for animals is a core part of her life. She currently cares for four dogs, numerous cats, chickens, and four horses at her home. She emphasized her commitment to community education on responsible pet ownership, spaying and neutering, and animal health.

In 2025, Ballard founded Houndstongue Pet Hotel, a full-service boarding and daycare facility. She has gained extensive experience in dog behavior, enrichment, and care through her work. She said she looks forward to using her expertise to support the shelter’s mission and advocate for animals in need.

Ballard expressed her enthusiasm for helping to strengthen the shelter’s impact and fostering a compassionate community for pets and their owners. She said she is honored to serve as a board member and hopes to contribute to the shelter’s ongoing efforts.
