Two teachers in New Albany awarded scholarships through endowment
Two teachers in the New Albany School District have received scholarships funded through the Dean Provence Endowment for Excellence in Education. The scholarships are made possible by the Tri State Educational Foundation, at the request of its president, Dr. Bob Ferguson.
Dr. Ferguson, a longtime friend of Dean Provence, has a passion for his hometown and education. He hopes to help district teachers advance their careers by supporting their pursuit of graduate degrees during the Spring and Summer 2026 semesters.
The scholarships were awarded to Montana Purvis, a dyslexia therapist at New Albany Elementary School, and Houston Butler, a special education teacher at New Albany High School. Both teachers are seeking to grow professionally through their studies, according to the district.
