New Albany Partners with Keep Mississippi Beautiful for Annual Cleanup
New Albany Main Street is partnering with Keep Mississippi Beautiful to host the annual Great American Cleanup on March 7, 2026. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and aims to promote community involvement in cleaning and beautifying the area.
Organizers say the effort is part of the national Great American Cleanup movement and is coordinated locally through Keep New Albany Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep Mississippi Beautiful. Volunteers will gather at the Union County Heritage Museum at 114 Cleveland Street to receive supplies and assigned cleanup areas.
Teams will then spread across downtown streets, parks, and public spaces to remove litter and refresh high-traffic areas. Organizers emphasize that the event is about more than trash collection, highlighting community pride, collaboration, and investing in the local area. They note that a clean, welcoming downtown benefits local businesses, attracts visitors, and improves quality of life.
Keep New Albany Beautiful promotes environmental stewardship and community beautification efforts throughout the region. The cleanup is one of several initiatives supporting these goals. Participants of all ages, including businesses, civic groups, students, churches, families, and individuals, are encouraged to join.
