New Albany High School girls powerlifting team places third at regional meet

The New Albany High School girls powerlifting team finished third at the 4A Regional Powerlifting Meet held Monday at Itawamba, according to school officials.

Five lifters from the team qualified for the North Half Championship, including Candace Ordaz, Morgan Pierce, Anna Garcia, Angel Fox and Chlea Morton.

Ordaz, Pierce, Garcia and Morton each finished third in their respective divisions, while Fox took second overall, officials said.

The team’s strong performance secures its spot in the upcoming North Half Championship, where they will compete for a chance to advance further in the state competition.
