Mississippi opens Armory for storm relief donations
Mississippi Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson announced the Old National Guard Armory on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds will serve as a donation drop-off site to assist residents impacted by recent winter ice storms.
The armory will be open today, Monday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For the rest of the week, Tuesday through Friday, hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to Gipson’s office.
MDAC’s team is collecting bottled water, nonperishable food items such as canned soup, can openers, baby diapers and formula, propane cook stoves, propane bottles, and basic paper products. The supplies will be delivered to North Mississippi once roads are safe and passable, officials said.
