Students at New Albany Middle School Explore 3D Printing in STEM Class

Students in Heather Decanter’s sixth-grade seminar class at New Albany Middle School have been working with 3D printers to develop their design skills. The students created projects such as fidgets and avatars using Tinkercad, a digital design platform.

They practiced transferring their digital designs to physical models by downloading, slicing, and printing them on the school’s 3D printers. The equipment was funded through a classroom grant from the Dean Provence Endowment for Excellence in Education, according to school officials.

The program aims to enhance STEM education by providing students with practical experience in digital design and manufacturing technologies.
