Power Outages Hit Mississippi Amid Storm Recovery Efforts
Thousands of residents across Mississippi are currently without power as recovery efforts continue following recent storms, according to officials. Many outages are expected to persist for some time as crews work around the clock to restore service.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency issued safety tips for those using generators. They advised never operating generators indoors or in garages and keeping them at least 20 feet away from doors and windows. They also stressed turning off and allowing generators to cool before refueling.
Power crews are cautioning residents to avoid touching or driving over downed power lines. Officials urged anyone who does not need to be outdoors to stay home and stay safe during the ongoing recovery efforts.
