New Albany Band Program Receives Grant for Harmony Director
The New Albany Band Program has received a grant from the Dean Provence Endowment for Excellence in Education to purchase a Harmony Director for the Band Hall, district officials said.
The device, modeled after a traditional piano keyboard, offers features to assist with metronomic work, transposition, pitch identification and modification, ear training, instrument tuning, and harmony development, according to the district.
Band directors say the Harmony Director has already become an essential part of classes for students in grades 6-12, helping them improve their instrument skills. The tool is used regularly to support student learning and instrumental mastery, district officials added.
