Interstate Closures in New Albany and Union County Due to Ice Removal

Marshall County, Miss. — The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced closures of key highways in the New Albany and Union County area due to winter weather conditions.

Effective Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., northbound lanes of Interstate 55 from Batesville (Exit 243) to Senatobia (Exit 265) are closed. All lanes of I-22/U.S. 78 from Red Banks (Exit 21) to the Tennessee state line are also shut down until further notice.

MDOT officials said the closures are necessary to allow crews to perform ice removal operations. Motorists are urged to avoid traveling on I-55 and I-22/U.S. 78 in these areas.

For real-time updates on road conditions, drivers can consult the free MDOT Traffic app, available in the App Store and Google Play, or visit MDOTtraffic.com.

The department emphasized the importance of heeding road closure notices to ensure safety during winter weather.
