Community Resources Offer Food and Warmth Amid Power Outages in New Albany
Several community organizations in New Albany are offering resources to residents in need of food and warmth amid ongoing power outages. Eight Days of Hope will serve a free hot meal daily at noon at Hillcrest Baptist Church, located at 216 State Hwy 15 S.
The meals are open to anyone, with options for dine-in or take-out, according to organizers. Victory Church at 116 N Denton Rd. is operating as a warming station for those without power or heat. The church provides a safe, no-questions-asked environment where people can rest.
Additional warming stations include the Ladies Building at the Fairgrounds, located at 112 Fairgrounds Spur behind the Extension Building, which offers heat, bottled water, restrooms, and cots (bring bedding or blankets). Eight Days of Hope also supplies a warm meal daily at this location.
Another warming site has been opened at 231 Starlyn Ave. by Terry Young. Grace Pointe Church at 1512 S. Central Ave. is also opening its doors today to anyone in need of warmth or a safe space. Officials encourage residents to take advantage of these resources if they are cold or without power.
